Astronomically, autumn begins when the sun is at certain point in the sky, called "Punto Libra". Several things happen: autumn begins (in the northern hemisphere), day and night have the same duration, and the sun rise just to the east and set just to the west.
Autumn did not start last Friday, but today it is Sunday and autumn is here!!!
